Each year, Energy Right recognizes key leaders in Virginia who help the Commonwealth advance in energy. We proudly recognized Delegate Carrie Coyner as the Energy Right Legislator of the Year, Halifax County as the Energy Right County of the Year, and New Leaf Energy as the Energy Right Industry Partner of the Year.
The Conservative Energy Caucus met five times during the 2025 legislative session in Richmond, with Energy Right proudly supporting co-chairs Delegates Tony Wilt and Carrie Coyner. Each week featured key energy topics shaping Virginia’s future—from cutting-edge battery storage to the landowner perspective on renewables.
Discussions also explored higher education’s role in fact-based energy policy, the resurgence of nuclear power, and how agrivoltaics is transforming farming. Stay tuned for highlights from these critical conversations that balance energy innovation, property rights, and economic growth.
In January, Energy Right released a new statewide poll that revealed strong support among Virginians for clean energy initiatives, with 72% of likely voters favoring solar energy development. The comprehensive results highlight a growing consensus that clean energy solutions and leadership are vital for the Commonwealth’s economic and environmental future.
The survey of 896 likely voters provides valuable insight into public sentiment regarding various aspects of clean energy, including solar and other energy sources, property rights, local authority, and related policy measures.
“Virginia is experiencing increasing energy demand like never before, which makes it vitally important that we understand the views of Virginians on how we meet this moment,” said Blake Cox, Energy Right’s co-founder and COO. “By embracing innovative technologies, like solar, battery storage, SMR’s, and more, we can drive job creation, generate tax revenue for our communities, and be an energy powerhouse here in the Commonwealth.”

Energy Right has engaged over 70 Virginia counties to help advance the conversation surrounding clean energy development. While every locality is different, our team recognized a need to set policies locally that allow high quality projects to come forward for consideration. Good policies encourage good projects, and our work statewide informs our Ordinance Recommendations. Please consider these recommendations for implementation in your home county. The Energy Right Team would welcome the opportunity to present these policy suggestions with your local leaders.
