Prince Edward County is moving forward with energy advancements as landowners bring forward solar projects for consideration. It is important that landowner rights are respected, and that local decisions are rooted in facts and good policy.
It is important for county citizens to make their voices heard! Responsible solar energy projects make sense–producing clean energy while powering local economies will help. However, false information takes hold and not-in-my-backyard activists work against Virginia’s all-of-the-above, market based energy strategy.

Please share a letter with your local leaders to remind them of your support for responsible clean energy investments in the county:

Dear Members of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors,
As a resident of Prince Edward County, I want to express my strong support for the responsible development of solar energy projects in our community.

In recent hearings, there has been a noticeable rise in misinformation about solar energy. I believe it’s important to set the record straight: solar panels are safe. They do not produce emissions, they operate silently, and when sited properly, they pose no threat to human health, wildlife, or water quality.

With smart local regulations, solar facilities can be designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape. Vegetative buffers, setbacks, and wildlife corridors can all help ensure that these projects remain out of view and in harmony with our environment. Unlike many forms of development, solar construction is low-impact and reversible—allowing the land to rest and recover during its use, and to be returned to its natural state after decommissioning.

Solar energy also upholds core values that many of us share: private property rights, energy independence, and local economic growth. It provides landowners with new income opportunities, generates tax revenue for county priorities, and helps reduce our reliance on outside energy sources.

Let’s continue to move forward with facts, not fear. I urge you to support well-regulated solar development that reflects our values and prepares Prince Edward County for a stronger, more self-sufficient future.

Thank you for your time and service.
Sincerely,
______
